Shearing is a cutting process which is mainly used to cut sheet metal and heavy plate out of large stock pieces. The shears that we operate produce parts of exact dimensions specified by our customers. Parts are sheared to precision lengths and widths at greater speeds by our shears. Shearing is done as a preliminary process of preparing stock material for just about every fabrication process.
We use a Darley 10 foot shear which is capable of cutting sheet and plate stock in a fast and accurate manner. We can shear up to 3/8” Steel, ¾” Aluminum and ¼” Stainless Steel.
Square, round and rectangular tube is cut with our Marvel Series 8 Mark III saw. The Marvel saw has the capability to cut accurate miters and keep ends square on straight cuts. Our Geka Iron Worker is the shop’s choice machine for cutting angle and bar stock for general fabrication work.
